Our Beliefs
Welcome to the community life of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
We are a Christ-centered Lutheran congregation rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and committed to sharing God's grace, hope, and love with all people. Guided by Holy Scripture and nourished through Word and Sacrament, we seek to follow Christ in worship, faith, service, and daily life.
As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC), we affirm the biblical teaching that salvation is God's gift of grace through faith in Jesus Christ:
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God."

We gather to hear God's Word, celebrate Holy Baptism and Holy Communion, pray together, care for one another, and serve our neighbours with compassion.
The Five Solas of the Reformation
Our faith is shaped by the historic Lutheran teaching known as the Five Solas of the Reformation, each rooted in Scripture.
Sola Scriptura
Scripture Alone
We believe the Bible is the inspired and trustworthy Word of God, guiding our faith and life.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."

Sola Gratia
Grace Alone
We believe salvation is God's free gift, not something we can earn.
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… not by works."
— Ephesians 2:8–9
Sola Fide
Faith Alone
We believe we are justified before God through faith in Jesus Christ.
"For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law."
— Romans 3:28
Solus Christus
Christ Alone
We believe Jesus Christ alone is the Savior and mediator between God and humanity.
"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
— John 14:6
Soli Deo Gloria
Glory to God Alone
We believe all worship, service, and life should give glory to God.
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
In today's world, these biblical truths call us to live with humility, compassion, integrity, and hope, trusting not in ourselves, but in God's mercy and promises.
